EFT or emotional freedom technique is an evidence-based tool that combines elements of cognitive behavior therapy and acupressure points.
There is a growing body of research around EFT and it is an accredited technique according to the American Psychological Association.
There are trauma informed techniques as well as stress reduction techniques for self-care.
It is an accepted tool for helping with anxiety and depression.
Once you learn EFT, you can use this tool for your ongoing stress management. Dr Peta Stapleton is a leading researcher in this field has written a book called The Science of EFT tapping. IT is a great resource for those that are interested.
According to Bach et al 2019 EFT has been extensively investigated for anxiety and depression, pain, cravings. It has even shown in one study with veterans with PTSD in ten sessions to regulate genes associated with inflammation and immunity.
In another study differential expression in 72 genes. These included genes associated with the suppression of cancer tumours, protection against UV radiation, regulation of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, immunity, opportunistic infections, antiviral activity, synaptic connectivity between neurons, synthesis of both red and white blood cells, enhancement of male fertility, building white matter in the brain, metabolic regulation, neural plasticity and the reduction of oxidative stress.
